EBHS Seniors Cristian Figueroa and Kevin Turcios achieved a United States Air Force (USAF) Special Award at the 2017 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF). Exhibiting extraordinary poise and determination, they earned first-place in the USAF’s Behavior & Social Science category with their research project: “How Effective Is Your Virtual Reality Experience?”
This achievement was the culmination of many months of preparation and participation in various science competitions including our very own EBHS school-wide science fair, the Massachusetts Region IV competition and the Massachusetts State Science Fair. In fact, it was their first-place finish at the Region IV Science Fair that earned them the right to compete at the Intel ISEF. Along with this opportunity, Cristian and Kevin were also awarded an all-expense-paid trip to Los Angeles, California from May 13th to May 20th. Congratulations to their teacher, Mr. John Menkens, as well as Mr. Brangiforte, Ms. Blanco, Ms. O’Neill, the staff of the science department and our entire Eastie community for their generous support and consideration. We are so proud of Cristian and Kevin for their academic achievement! GOOOO JETS!!

Congratulations to our EBHS Science Fair Winners! Their projects spanned from virtual reality to brine shrimp. These students went above and beyond this semester and produced some amazing projects. They truly lived up to Eastie's values of Class, Pride and Tradition.
Many of the judges were researchers from local universities and were impressed with our students. We can't wait to see the judges again next year! Also, a huge thank you to everyone in the Science Department, the JROTC, the janitorial staff, and EBHS administrators who made today possible. ![]() Senior James Magnasco Was Awarded A$20,000.00 Scholarship To UMass Lowell For His First Place Science Fair Showing!
